I feel privileged to be a part of the Boothbay Sea and Science Center because it brings together all of my favorite things in one place and provides an important service to the area. The opportunity to teach sailing and seamanship skills while exploring the coast of Maine makes every day of the summer enjoyable, and the Center’s invaluable connections with local scientific, maritime and aquaculture professionals give participants a sense of possible careers and a better understanding of the region.

As a sailing Instructor, it is a joy to mentor, build confidence in, and foster independence in kids. I love watching kids learn new skills, apply them to achieve goals beyond their comfort levels, and to feel accomplished and proud of themselves when they go home.

The facial expressions and joy that are expressed, after a camper learns something new, makes your day. The personal satisfaction I get from that makes me come back each and every day.
