Join us for a tidepool adventure!

On Wednesday, April 22 (rain date is April 23), come to the BSSC campus at 12 Carter Road from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. for a tidepooling experience. We’ll be exploring the extensive tidepools around our campus, discovering all of the marine life that lives in these shallow bodies of water. In addition to exploring, we’ll also have storytelling, knot-tying lessons and crafting. This event is free and open to all. More details:

  • Flexible attendance: Families are welcome to stay for the full two hours or drop in at any time during the event.
  • Safety and Gear: All child participants must be accompanied by an adult. Life jackets are required for tidepooling; a limited number of life jackets and boots will be available for loan, but families are strongly encouraged to bring their own.
  • What to wear: Attendees should wear warm, waterproof clothing suitable for getting wet.
  • Parking: Visitors should park at the Linekin Bay Public Boat Launch on Murray Hill Road or in the parking lot at the Hodgdon Yachts green shed (71 Murray Hill Road). Volunteers and signs will guide the short walk to the Center.
  • In the event of inclement weather, the program will move to Thursday, April 23, from 10 to noon. For real-time weather updates, please follow the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library and the Boothbay Sea and Science Center Facebook page.
